I watched the movie “Baptism by Fire”. Due to believing in God and sharing the gospel, the main protagonist was arrested by CCP and has been sentenced to seven years. After being released, he persists in sharing the gospel and expending himself for God. He thinks those who run around, labor and expend themselves for God are people who are obedient to God and do the will of God, such people can earn God’s praise and be taken up to the kingdom of heaven. However, when his son gets a serious illness and is in danger, he loses his original faith to God. He begins to complain against God and reason with Him: He has expended himself for God to such that extent, then why does his price not bring peace to his family?
Through the revelation of God’s word, he comes to realize that he has been trading with God through his laboring and expending himself, in this way, he attempts to gain God’s grace and blessings. Such can’t be counted as true obedience to God!
